Why does RSH provide this service:
RSH works with a good number of healthcare clients. As such, it’s very common to hear from the consumer that “my insurance was supposed to pay for that!” As a 3rd Party Collection Agency, RSH educates the clients that say this that insurance is only a form of payment and, technically, the account guarantor is ultimately responsible for the bill. We go on to share that if the bill remains unresolved, it could only negatively affect the account guarantor. Upon payment in full by the guarantor, RSH will provide the Paid In Full receipt so that the account guarantor can go back to their insurance company if they truly felt that they should have paid the bill.
However with larger medical balances, our Professional RSH Collectors are trained to ask the right type of questions to verify if the patient’s insurance really was supposed to pay the bill. If there’s even the slightest chance that the patient’s insurance was to cover the cost of the bill, the collector then forwards the account to our in-house Patient Advocate for further review.
How does this benefit you, the provider:
Our Patient Advocate is our Business Office Manager. She had previously been a client of RSH as a BOM for a large cardiology group for many years. She is well versed in the nuances of healthcare coding and medical insurance. If after reviewing the forwarded account, she too feels that insurance was ‘missed’, she will get on a 3 way call with the patient and their insurance company to resolve the situation. In every case she’s been involved with, she’s been successful in getting the patient’s insurance company to pay for part if not all of the patient’s bill.
Having a Patient Advocate is not only good for your patient, it’s great to have as part of your Collection Partner’s team and it’s a great reflection on you….the patient’s Healthcare Provider.
